Phil Wiland, President, CEO
Phil has been an innovator in the Direct Marketing Industry for over 40 years. He founded and built Wiland Services which provided database marketing and marketing research services for hundreds of companies and organizations. Developed MatchMaster Plus, the first merge/purge system to utilize artificial intelligence. Phil also founded and built multiple successful catalog brands including Colorful Images. Having spent his entire career in direct marketing—focused on technology services and building companies—he has a very high level of interest in the health of the direct marketing industry.
Brent Eskew, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Brent has been in the Direct Marketing Industry for over 15 years. He began with Wiland Direct upon its founding and has been involved in establishing the Company's relationship with most of its clients. Prior to joining Wiland Direct, Brent served as the founder and president of FindYourSpot.com, the Internet's leading relocation recommendation service, which today registers more than one million members annually. Brent is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law and an accomplished attorney and litigator. After earning his law degree, Brent served as a Deputy District Attorney and successfully prosecuted over 300 criminal trials.
Michael Gaffney, Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Mike directly manages the controller, treasury, tax, audit, and risk management functions. Mike has more than 15 years of financial leadership experience in various Controller positions across multiple industries. Most recently he served as Corporate Controller for Carrier Access Corporation, a publicly traded, Telecom Company with over $170 million in assets. With extensive experience in budgeting and expense control in both rapidly growing and declining environments, he leads the company's commitment to matching financial success with its continued growth. Michael received a bachelors of science in Accounting from Houghton College and holds an M.B.A from Clarkson University.
Ben Gill, Senior Vice President, Digital and Web
Ben has been in the Direct Marketing Industry for 30 years. He began his career at Wiland Services where he worked in sales, product management, and account management before becoming Vice President of Client Services. When Wiland Services was acquired by Neodata, Ben became the Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Neodata’s Database Marketing division. Ben subsequently served as a Vice President for Concepts Direct, a multi-title catalog company. Prior to joining Wiland Direct, Ben managed all Media Planning for AeroGrow International. Ben is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Doug Kaczmarek, Executive Vice President, Analytics & Data Management
Doug manages all aspects of the Wiland Direct’s data management, analytics and product fulfillment functions. He has over 20 years of experience in consumer marketing including employment from both the client and service perspectives. After earning a Master of Arts in Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan, he began his career developing models and circulation strategies for Sears' Catalog and Direct Response units. He was then Director of Analytical Services for Experian, where his team created hosted and cooperative database analytical solutions. Most recently Doug was the Director of Database Marketing for America Online, where he developed an internal staff to provide analytical marketing solutions for AOL's connectivity and premium services business.
Mark Kinney, Senior Vice President, Product Management
Mark has over 20 years of experience in the Direct Marketing industry. Prior to joining Wiland Direct, Mark worked at Concepts Direct, a large multi-title consumer catalog company. His experience includes online and offline marketing channels across industries. Since the founding of Wiland Direct, Mark has been coordinating with the development staff to build out the core systems and databases that drive the products and services at Wiland Direct.
Steve McKee, Senior Vice President, Direct Marketing Platforms
Steve leads major new marketing technology initiatives at Wiland Direct. He has over 30 years of experience in Product Management, Software Development, Operations, Client Service and Organizational Development roles helping database marketing service organizations grow. Immediately prior to joining Wiland Direct, Steve was VP for Merkle’s Marketing Technology Group where he oversaw a 77% increase in direct profit during a period of 24% annual growth. Steve started his database marketing career with Wiland Services and has held leadership roles at Concepts Direct, Neodata and Prime Response.
Tom Murray, Executive Vice President, Member Services
As head of Wiland Direct’s Member Services department, Tom oversees the delivery of solutions and services to all database participants. Tom has nearly 30 years of direct marketing experience, which began with his work at Wiland Services where he held multiple positions in the client services and product management areas. He later moved to multi-title catalog marketer Concepts Direct where he led the marketing and circulation functions for over eight years, overseeing all direct response advertising decisions and vendor relationships. Most recently, prior to joining Wiland Direct, he held a variety of positions within Epsilon Targeting. Tom holds a degree in Business from Colorado State University.
Deb Swalley, Human Resource Director
Deb oversees our Company policies, procedures, benefits, and recruiting programs and helps us maintain our innovative, energetic, friendly Company culture. Deb has 20 years of leadership experience in Human Resources and Training and Development. Deb received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Phil Tobias, Chief Technology Officer
As CTO, Phil leads the engineering teams responsible for the development and maintenance of the high performance data warehouse systems required to support the cooperative database market. Phil has over 35 years of technology and software development experience in the Direct Marketing Industry. Prior to joining Wiland Direct, Phil served as the CIO of Concepts Direct, a multi-title catalog company. In this position, Phil led the development of a multi-brand catalog fulfillment system with fully integrated e-commerce capabilities. Phil also worked for many years at Wiland Services, where he was a primary architect of many of the successful systems pioneered by Wiland Services. He has designed and developed a wide range of technology solutions in the Direct Marketing space, including address correction, Merge/Purge, presort, National Change of Address (NCOA), list order fulfillment, and data warehouse systems.
